THE BLOG

Nothing changes if nothing changes

2025 Christmas day self portaits

2025 was a very tough year and many people are sharing their videos and photos on social media everywhere promising lots of change and lots of goals for 2026.

And while that is great, there is also a lot of uncertainty and things that can change to alter goals and reality which inevitably ends up changing your goals.

For years, I have been promising myself a change, and I realize how social media has fully changed the way that I shoot as a photographer and how I create as a creator and how I see things as an artist.

And while the social media platforms own everything you put out there and only pushes your information or your posts to barely 3% to 6% of the followers you have you are more likely to have more traffic when you blog and blogging has been a really huge goal of mine since literally 2018.

So the last two months, I have posted less to social media and put my phone down a lot more.

I have been reading more and I also started back in therapy which does have its ups and downs, but I feel like it’s important to share all of those things regardless if this is a small business or a personal blog, but you cannot separate the human from the art or the art from the human and it all goes hand-in-hand…. So from here on out, I’m gonna be sharing the nitty-gritty and everything else that’s in between being a photographer, entrepreneur, artist, wife, dog, mom, cat mom, tarantula mom, and auntie and friend and just so much more.

This December really brought a big halt to our lives and heartache after losing our sweet Lilo unexpectedly.

And just going back through all of the content and videos and photos and film that I have of our family and our moments that we have never shared online and looking back at all those has brought me lots of healing.

So if sharing our story and our day-to-day lives or weekly updates brings other people joy or they learn something from our experiences that’s all I really hope to do through my blog along with obviously sharing countless beautiful stories and art of/from our clients.

2026 is a year of going within and creating and intentionally creating for myself and no one else.

And what I mean by for no one else is that I’m creating for me and if it makes other people happy in the process great, and if it doesn’t great. I will just be happy that I followed through and that’s all that matters.

And that means whether I’m sharing phone images in my blog or professional ones I take with my camera I’m just gonna talk about how it made me feel or the stories behind them, and I just really hope that you all will be with me on the journey as I dive deeper into blogging and sharing deeper conversations and questions that could help anyone struggling to create for themselves.

Because I do feel like as wedding photographers we forget behind the to do list and the phone calls, and the marketing and all of the business side of things of how to be an artist because we have so much flowing in from social media that we almost can’t even decipher our work from other peoples because we’re trying to keep up with trends that other people have created versus just focusing on things that would allow us to be the person who starts a trend because we just allowed ourselves to get creative versus trying to fill the pressure of copying and complying with tons of peoples Pinterest boards.

There’s nothing wrong with inspiration at all, but I do believe we need to focus on other subjects and media of art to find inspiration versus chasing other wedding photographers and following what they deem as creative or considered art.

So 2026 will be the year that I come back to myself as an artist and that’s all my goal is as a wedding photographer and business owner.

And if you think that something worth following along I would love to have you here and subscribe to my blog and newsletter.

Cheers to creating, cheers to burning down imposter syndrome, and spending less time on social media And just feelin yourself like the meme below ✨✨✨✨

Stay Golden friends 💛
