LGBTQ+ Safe Wedding Planners in Houston Texas

D+S in Downtown Houston for their engagement session

No one tells you that when you market yourself as a LGBTQ+ wedding photographer in Houston Texas that you might get black listed by so called “luxury vendors” but thats okay because we have learned over the years that we don’t want to work with vendors that rainbow wash our community nor consider LGBTQ+ weddings as untraditional just because of who we love and identify and neither should you!

As you are searching for your Houston wedding photographer as a LGBTQ+ engaged person the best thing you can do is HIRE LGBTQ+ Photographer because we JUST GET YOU and thats the best feeling you can have on your wedding day knowing that you will not have to “tolerated” but instead CELEBRATED because LGBTQ+ love isn’t something for the wedding industry to tokenize or just post queer couples on their website or IG in pride month but ALL YEAR LONG BABYYY.

WE LOVE TO SEE OUR COMMUNITY AND LOVE LIKE OURS IN THE SPOT LIGHT!

SO here are questions you should be asking your vendors or yourself to make sure they are safe to work with as LGBTQ+ Marriers:

  1. Have you worked with same-sex or LGBTQ+ couples before? Can we see examples? REPRESENTATION MATTERS. IF the vendors do not share or have LGBTQ+ clients VISIBLY on their website/socials that would be a red flag to me. And if you have to dig around on their website or socials to find a single photo of queer clients, even after extensive searching, then that would be an immediate “no.” A lack of visible representation can indicate a lack of commitment to inclusivity and understanding of diverse communities, which is crucial in establishing trust with clients.
  2. Do they ask your pronouns? TBH this is just common sense and shouldn’t be something we have to fight for, especially for our trans and nonbinary communities.
  3. Are you personally comfortable and enthusiastic about serving our wedding? This is question without a shadow of a doubt will bring you the answers you need.
  4. Do they use inclusive language in their contracts (e.g., “Partner 1/Partner 2” rather than “Bride/Groom”)?
  5. Are all staff members who might work with the vendor the event AFFIRMING?
  6. Have they ever declined or referred out an LGBTQ+ wedding? Under what circumstances? Or Why?

Trust your gut…. beyond the answers themselves, pay attention to how a vendor responds.

Enthusiasm, warmth, and genuine familiarity with LGBTQ+ weddings signals a real ally.

Hesitation, vague answers, or over-qualifying language can be a red flag even if nothing is technically said wrong. Referrals from other LGBTQ+ couples are also a way to find not only inclusive but affirming vendors.

So with that I am going to list some of my favorite inclusive+affirming planners on this blog I have worked with and will create another blog for other vendors per category.

Aiyesha With Polished Occasion Weddings

One thing About Aiyesha is that SHE goes to the end of the earth for her clients and back. I know that was the case for our clients Kynderick+Evan. They were going through vendors together and scheduling meetings with potential vendors they wanted to work with when a vendor kept asking during the meeting, “where is the bride?” or kept saying “bride” instead of Grooms and she immediately said “Nope” and from that point removed them from her list of vendors immediately. That same wedding we both worked on together for our couple also has been published on Loverly AND OUTSMART Magazine and you can visit the publications below. We love our Polished Occasions team!

The best thing you can do when booking a vendor is ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS and Trust your gut. A inclusive wedding vendor will not be offended and will be able to answer you without hesitation.
