Romantic Pastel Wedding Inspiration for Spring 2022 | The Citadel, Texas

Our styled shoot at The Citadal featuring Houston’s top LGBTQ inclusive vendors brought Paris to Texas and is the pink-hued inspiration your Spring Wedding Pinterest board needs!

In 2021 we were lucky enough to work with an amazing team of Texas’ best LGBTQ+ inclusive vendors to create a styled shoot celebrating the love of Kim Daily and Shaquinta Richardson at the Citadel, Texas (one of our favorite venues!)

The bigger vision was based around romance and femininity – soft yet sophisticated pastels, spring inspired floral installations and delicate details were brought to life with modern twists (how gorgeous are the neons!?) whilst smaller details of cheese boards, cocktails garnished with summer fruits and macarons brought traditional romance with a Parisian feel! All the concepts blended together perfectly to create the ultimate pink-hued backdrop for Kim and Shaquinta’s tender love story, and we can’t imagine a more picture-perfect interpretation of spring trends.

The floral design was created by none other than florist Nikki Rooney, whose personal wedding we also captured that you can check out on our blog here – if you’re in love with this gallery, you’ll be even more head over heels for the wonderland she created for her own big day! Every time we’ve worked with Nikki she’s blown us away with her passion, creative vision and amazing work ethic, and this shoot was no exception. Her florals TRANSFORMED the venue and were the stars of the day and we wouldn’t have been able to execute our vision without her magical expertise. Our personal favorite floral details were on Kim’s gorgeous suit, and we loved how the tones and textures created a beautiful synergy between the couple and the venue which made it feel like every room was a reflection of them.

(…And whilst we’re on the subject of bridal fashion, we are OBSESSED with the outfits both Kim and Shaquinta were wearing. Kim’s Jacquard V-Cut Blazer was the playful blend of masculinity, femininity and androgyny (ideal for if you’re torn between wearing a dress or a suit for your wedding!) and Shaquinta’s tulle fishtail gown hugged her curves like it was designed for her body… They both looked STUNNING and we were – and still are – slain!)

We know you’ll agree that every single detail from this shoot is pin-worthy perfection, so If you’re planning a wedding in Houston, Austin or Dallas for 2022 and beyond, I can’t recommend all the vendors that worked on this shoot alongside us enough for your own big day. We felt so lucky to be a part of a team filled with so many incredibly inspiring women, and all their creativity and advocacy for the black LGBTQ community across Texas deserves to be celebrated!
